আইপিটিভির অনুমোদন পেল ইনফোলিংক লিমিটেড

ইন্টারনেট প্রোটোকল টিভি বা আইপি টিভি সেবা প্রদানের অনুমোদন পেয়েছে ইন্টারনেট সেবা প্রদানকারী প্রতিষ্ঠান ইনফোলিংক লিমিটেড। সম্প্রতি প্রতিষ্ঠানটির পক্ষ থেকে আবেদনের প্রেক্ষিতে বাংলাদেশ টেলিযোগাযোগ নিয়ন্ত্রণ কমিশন (বিটিআরসি) এই সেবা পরিচালনার অনুমতি দেয়।

বিটিআরসির পক্ষ থেকে প্রেরিত এক পত্রের মাধ্যমে সংস্থাটি জানায়, ইনফোলিংক নামের ইন্টারনেট সেবা প্রদানকারী প্রতিষ্ঠানটির পক্ষ থেকে আবেদনের প্রেক্ষিতে কিছু শর্তসহ পরীক্ষামূলকভাবে আইপি টিভি সেবা প্রদানের অনুমতি দেয়া হলো।

বিটিআরসির দেয়া শর্তগুলো হলো, আইপিটিভি সেবা প্রদানকারী বাংলাদেশ সরকারের অনুমোদিত (অথবা ডাউন লিংকের অনুমতি প্রাপ্ত) দেশি-বিদেশী টিভি চ্যানেলের কনটেন্ট প্রচার করতে পারবে। তবে প্রতিটি চ্যানেলে বা কনটেন্ট প্রচারে প্রয়োজনীয় চুক্তি/অনুমোদন/ছাড়পত্র গ্রহণ করতে হবে এবং অনুমোদিত চ্যানেল ব্যতীত অন্যকোন চ্যানেল ডাউনলিংক, বিপণন সঞ্চালন বা নিজস্ব অনুষ্ঠান প্রদর্শন বা সম্প্রচার করতে পারবে না।

এছাড়াও আইপিটিভি সেবা প্রদানকারী টেলিযোগাযোগ আইন অনুযায়ী বিটিআরসি হতে ট্যারিফ অনুমোদন গ্রহণ করত: বাণিজ্যিকভাবে কার্যক্রম পরিচালনা করবে, ব্যবহারকারীর বিস্তারিত লগ/ আইপি লগ প্রদর্শনের তারিখ হতে নূন্যতম ৯০ দিন পর্যন্ত সংরক্ষণ করবে এবং সকল স্ট্রিমিং সার্ভিস আইপিটিভি সেবা প্রদানকারী বিটিআরসি’র নির্দেশনার প্রেক্ষিতে প্রয়োজনীয় মনিটরিং ব্যবস্থা প্রদান করবে।

এই বিষয়ে ইনফোলিংকের প্রধান নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা সাকিফ আহমেদ বলেন, ডিজিটাল বাংলাদেশ রূপকল্প বাস্তবায়নে বিটিআরসি’র এই পদক্ষেপ মাইলফলক হিসেবে বিবেচিত হবে। কারণ, যত দিন যাচ্ছে, মানবজীবনের ব্যবহৃত পণ্যগুলো ধীরে ধীরে সবগুলোই ইন্টারনেটের সাথে সংযুক্ত হচ্ছে। তাই ইন্টারনেটের এই যুগে ডিজিটাল প্রযুক্তির প্রসারের লক্ষ্যে গ্রাহকপ্রান্তে আইপিটিভির ব্যবহার বাংলাদেশকে এক অনন্য উচ্চতায় নিয়ে যাবে।

এতে করে সামনের দিনগুলোতে দর্শকদের আর টিভিতে পছন্দের অনুষ্ঠান দেখার জন্য অপেক্ষা করতে হবে না, বরং নিজের সুবিধা মতো সময়েই নিজের মোবাইলে বা অন্যান্য ডিভাইসে অনুষ্ঠান উপভোগ করতে পারবেন।

তিনি আরও বলেন, ক্যাবল টিভি বা ডিসের লাইনে আমরা খুবই সীমিত সংখ্যক চ্যানেল দেখতে পারি মাত্র। এর বাইরে তেমন কোনো সুবিধা নেই। কিন্তু আইপি টিভির ক্ষেত্রে সবচেয়ে বড় সুবিধা হচ্ছে এতে মুভি, নাটক, টিভি সিরিয়ালসহ বিভিন্ন অনুষ্ঠান ছাড়াও এইচডি ও ফোরকে রেজ্যুলেশনে নেটফ্লিক্স, আইফ্লিক্সের মতো ভিডিও অন ডিম্যান্ড বা ভিওডি সার্ভিস থেকেও বিভিন্ন কনটেন্ট দেখা যাবে।

সাকিফ আহমেদ বলেন, আমরা আইপিটিভির পরীক্ষামূলক সম্প্রচারের অনুমোদন পেলেও এখনও এই সেবার গবেষণা এবং উন্নয়নে আরও জোড় দিচ্ছি। যাতে করে আমরা উন্নতমানের সেবা নিয়ে বাণিজ্যিক সম্প্রচারে যেতে পারি।

প্রসঙ্গত, ২০১১ সাল থেকে রাজধানীর গুলশান, বনানী, বারিধারা, উত্তরা, মোহাম্মদপুর, ধানমন্ডি, ইস্কাটন, পল্টনসহ আরও অনেক এলাকায় ব্রডব্যান্ড ইন্টারনেট সেবা প্রদান করে যাচ্ছে ইনফোলিংক। ডিজিটাল বাংলাদেশ বিনির্মাণে অংশীদার হতে আরও কিছু প্রযুক্তিগত সেবা দেওয়ার লক্ষ্যে কাজ করে যাচ্ছে প্রতিষ্ঠানটি। তারই একটি অংশবিশেষ এই আইপি টিভি।

Why not switch over to IPv6 internet?

Infolink is the first Bangladeshi ISP to offer fully IPv6 supported internet services on a commercial basis in Dhaka

Your internet, like ours, uses IPv4 internet. IPv4 stands for Internet Protocol version 4, and it is widely used to connect network devices to one another. Each device uses a specific address, based on IPv4’s 32-bit internet address format.

Private and public internet addresses combined have a total of around 4.29 billion addresses, almost all of which are nearly exhausted. IPv6 addresses like 2001:0db8:85a3:0000:0000:8a2e:0370:7334 are based on 128-bit formats and can accommodate much more. More importantly, IPv6 is more efficient than IPv4.

The everyday private internet user in Bangladesh has either a 16-bit address, 192.168.0.0 – 192.168.255.255 or 20-bit address like 172.16.0.0 – 172.31.255.255 or a 24-bit address ranging from 10.0.0.0 – 10.255.255.255, all based on IPv4 protocols.

IPv6 was initially launched in 2011 to raucous praise, and the following year began to be adopted by most websites. It is estimated that all IPv4 addresses will be exhausted before 2018 is out.

The Dhaka Tribune made some inquiries and discovered that some of the most trusted broadband internet service providers (ISP) like Link3 Ltd, Mazeda Internet, Dot Internet, and Doze Internet do not provide IPv6 internet. A Doze representative said there are plans to begin shifting to IPv6 sometime around March. A Link3 representative said their addresses are a mix of IPv4 and IPv6.

Infolink BD is the first ISP in Bangladesh to commercially offer IPv6 internet. The Baridhara-based ISP offers connections to Baridhara, Banani, Bashundhara R/A, Dhanmondi, Gulshan, and Uttara.

Infolink offers internet packages for home and corporate internet. They offer real IP and dedicated bandwidth for every package. As Infolink is the first to offer IPv6 connection in Bangladesh, it is quite an endeavour to offer something the world is getting acclimated to gradually.

The pioneer ISP now looks to break new grounds with their services as they expand across the city.

InfoLink Launches IPv6 Commercially for the first time in Bangladesh

Currently IPv6 is a top priority for the Asia Pacific Internet Society. APNIC reached the last /8 of IPv4 addresses in April 2011. Transitioning to IPv6 empowers the Internet to proceed to develop and empowers new, inventive administrations to be produced in light of the fact that more gadgets can associate with the Internet. Networking the largest shopping mall in South Asia

Jamuna Future Park- by far the largest shopping complex in this subcontinent is to house more than thousand shops, premium outlets, showrooms and food courts. This enormous shopping district required connectivity for internal operations and functionality. Moreover the incoming crowd also required access to internet. But no other engineering firm had ever undertaken such a meticulous challenge.  It was ‘InfoLink’, a network engineering firm, who was awarded the contract to connect all parts of this gigantic shopping mall in a network to ensure that the entire network can be controlled and maintained from a single point location.
Since this was a mammoth project and no other project of this scale was ever implemented in this country hence InfoLink had a quite steep learning curve. InfoLink was to do three things:  1. Establish and install all a unified network. 2. Build and connect kiosk for visitors 3. Maintain and monitor the high volume network traffic and networking hardware.
Establishing a unified network was a multilevel work hence the crews where tasked in groups to finish the work within the deadline. There were many challenges to establish the network and install all associated hardware. Firstly the network needed to be centralized and controlled from one single point. To do so, all network hardware was specially configured. Secondly enormous space was required to be covered with fiber optic cables. And all cables required to be laid in the ceilings. Since the floor to ceiling height was 4.42 meter, specialized equipments were required to lay cables at such a height. Thirdly, the Wi-Fi devices, through which end users could access the internet, were extremely sensitive to dust. As the network development work done in the construction phase of the shopping mall, so the devices where frequently exposed to dust resulting malfunction. Lastly, the 410,808 square feet per floor made the footwork lengthy and time consuming. To address these challenges some changes were made in the plan. The device hanging problem was solved by rearranging the total device plan. The problem of backbone route was solved by creating a tunnel from the center to Jamuna Future Park pocket gate. A special cover was used for safety of Wi-Fi devices. High ladder was used for recovering dead cables and a special high elevation cart for installing the devices. Even after that some laid cables were not working properly. In that case, those cables had to be changed.
Kiosk/information booth was another part of the project. An electronic kiosk (or computer kiosk or interactive kiosk) houses a computer terminal that often employs custom kiosk software designed to function while preventing users from accessing system functions. Computerized kiosks may store data locally and offer the visitors data from the stored memory whereas the interactive kiosk fetched updated data from the main network storage in real time. Some kiosks provide free, informational public service, while other displayed advertisements. In total 25 kiosks are already deployed throughout the shopping complex.  But in long term a total of 900 units will be deployed. Each would carry advertisement that was related to Jamuna Future Park. To deploy such a large amount of foreign built kiosk was lengthy and expensive. So InfoLink came up with with a cheaper alternative. They suggested the Jamuna authority to go for locally assembled Kiosk. The kiosk outer-shell and CPU was designed and assembled locally. Only the touch-screen monitors were imported.  The software for the system was created by InfoLink software development team. Thus it marked the very first commercial deployment of Bangladeshi assembled kiosk.
Maintaining and monitoring the extremely high bandwidth-ed network was another part of the project. For this part of the project, monitoring cell/NOC (Network operations center) was put up and extra IP (Internet Protocol) was needed for covering all the merchant clients of the premises. For client billing InfoLink software team developed billing software which made total billing process accurate and secured.  Besides dedicated internet and shared intranet, the networking project also involved data connectivity services for CCTV connection, Branch connectivity, ATM connection, Wi-Fi service for floating customer and connectivity for mobile users using hotspot voucher card.
The future work of this project involves Wi-Fi network for the rest of the floors, deployment of 800+ new kiosks, enable hotspot voucher card with e-payment options etc. No wonder, projects of these sorts are the embodiment of engineering at its best.
